Is it good to save Energy

Why do we need to save energy?
(So our world can live in a world full light not full of darkness.)

You’ve heard parents say “Turn THE LIGHTS OFF” OR “cLOSE THE FRIDGE DOOR” AND YOU WONDER WHY?

Just by making some small changes to energy in your house will help you save money and help earth be a better place .Energy has been there when we’ve needed it.bUT If we use too much energy that is bad for our earth like Methane and Co2, a very bad  gas is released and  that is called greenhouse, sOMETIMES when we leave something on when we are not using it you might think it is not a big deal but on the other hand you are making global warming a bigger and more dangerous thing for us. if we carry on using too much energy you are looking at massive floods and huge storms.

ENergy is important, if there was no energy how would we live? Save energy by not using too much and have a energy power plan on how to save energy. The best part of saving energy is that if you save heaps of it you will save a lot of money. We would barely survive without some energy sources but the biggest source of energy you  can find is the sun, if this big ball of fire  disappeared for some reason all of us will perish including the earth itself. So when you do something including energy have a little think about what damage it can do to our earth.

Energy is a very important to us and we use it in some good ways but using cars and other transports  that make global warming more dangerous is a very big problem, there is a easy solution to this, it is to just walk once in awhile or riding a bike, you can even help by simply changing a lightbulb to a more efficient one.
So our personal opinion is that this can help with the war against global warming. This is why you should save energy, i hope you have learnt something from this.

Thank you for listening to this piece of writing from tupou, misimoa and sake.

Room 8 Learning about statistics

On our chart it has the amount of votes what kind of fruit we would want to have everyday. Mango had the most votes then all of the other fruits like apple, banana, pineapple, orange and Strawberry. Mango had 14 votes apple had 2 votes pineapple had 7 votes and so on but banana had the least.

Electricity Journey

Is Mother Nature important? Yes, Mother Nature gives us non-renewable and renewable sources like Fossil Fuels from inside of the earth, Hydro Power from water when it rushes through, Wind of course from the wind, Geothermal from the heat inside of the earth, Solar energy from the sun, Biomass from the plants and Wave energy that is produced from the waves. Currently people predict that someday our non-renewable resources will go.  But with all of these complex ways you can make electricity, how does it become something that we use every day with the flick of a switch?   This explanation will describe the journey electricity takes from Mother Nature, to our homes.

Inside of a power plant is a generator. Fuels like Coal, Natural gas, Biomass and Uranium are used to heat the water until it produces steam which powers turbines and then this wonderful process generates our electricity and can be reused over and over again.

These power plants can’t be too close together so we have power lines, carried by tall towers to carry the electricity from a power plant to a substation, that you might wonder why they’re there and what they do.

When the power lines reach a substation which have transformers in them that can reduce the voltage so it is enough to power up all of our homes in a city or the whole country.

Just enough electricity has to be generated to our distribution lines which reaches our light switches. Too much or too little power, can crash the transmission system that could create a power outage or a blackout and this could affect the city if it did happen.

Some cities that usually have power like New York or such have been struck by an unfortunate hurricane (Hurricane Sandy) and have ended up with no power.  It has been one week after the hurricane and some people in New York still have no power at all and it is one of the biggest cities in America. What would you do if you had no power?

After all the process the the electricity powers your mains box and your outputs that you can use to power your homes. If you think that it takes one person to make a lightbulb work, then you're wrong. This explanation shows just how complicated it really is just to power your homes.

My Tukutuku Design

My meaning of my tukutuku pattern.
The green represents the grass of a cemetery and the grey represents the gravestone of my grandpa who died in 2010. The white is the pathway to heaven so his spirit rises and goes to heaven. the blue is the sky of the world and the white on top of it is heaven.

The Talented One

The talented one

As I looked down beneath my toes I could see the crowd cheering for me and shouting “Go Tupou Go!.” I was really nervous that I could feel fear shivering up my bony spine. I was so freaked out that I was screaming for my mama in my head, but then I said to myself “NO I AM NOT GIVING UP I AM DOING THIS FOR THE CROWD AND MY FAMILY”. So I took a deep breath and took one step at the time very gently and very slowly until
I got to the middle...

I started to wiggle and jiggle a little bit and then that’s when my fears came back. So  I closed my eyes and stood there for about five minutes that’s when the crowd started saying”BOO, BOO, BOO!”. I was so scared that I started shouting”AH AH AH !”. So I closed my eyes one more time before I was going to die and there I saw my great grandpa saying to
me “Someday you will become famous, and you will be famous because you have a talent to balance, so live it” So I said to myself TODAY IS THE DAY!”.

I opened my eyes and looked down and I said to myself “For Grandpa.” I felt confident so I walked slowly and slowly until I saw the end of the line I was so happy that I was nearly done. I got use to walking and balancing, it was so fun then suddenly I had finish. It was finally over I was so proud of myself and so was the crowd.

NZ Shake Out Day

Today was New Zealand national Shake out day. At 9:26am there was an earthquake drill. I was at my desk, so I dropped, cover and held to stay safe. One thing we did well at T.P.S was we responded to alarm and quickly dropped under our desk. One thing I want to work on next time is do think its funny because its, and if you don't listen you will get hurt. Our meeting place is our school hall. Remember, in
the event of an earthquake drop cover hold!

Persuasive Argument About Arbor Day

Do you think we should have Arbor day. Well if you don’t it's just going to make your life harder for your youngest, oldest and yourself. Having arbor day is not just for the sake of trees. Its for the people that love their environment , because it helps the environment, Its for people that loves trees, Its for people that want to have a healthy life and for people who care about others. Why wouldn’t you like to have Arbor day. Its helps you. It is very important because its with the life cycle. And if we want the life cycle to be bigger, stronger and easier we will need to take more care. So please, help with Arbour day, every thing that you do will all come back.

Observation Report

This term we have been learning about plants , so my class split up in 5 groups and did some experiments on plants and my group was doing one on plants.

When we finally got our equipment which were two cups, one tall white flower, water and food colouring we got down to business. First we filled the two cups with water, next we added two teaspoons of red and yellow food colouring into the mixture. Then cut the long white flower in half, not the whole flower but until it is half way. After that we put the two pieces of stem into the two types of colourings. Finally wait for about 2 to 5 days and see what has changed.

When we observed the flower on Monday, we found out that the petals have changed from white to half red and yellow and the stem was getting weaker, I mean that the stem couldn’t handle the petals in the air and it might have been dying. So we kept on staring at the plant till we said that in two weeks the plant would die.

This science project was my first so you must know what it feels like, it was pretty cool. The two key things we found out in the science project was that the pedals changed from white to red and yellow, and the stem had weaken  every single day. It was a pretty cool experience and I want to do somthing like that again.

Day3 Science Project Observation

  • The petals on the plant has change red and orange a little more I’m looking forward to see what happens to it the next day.
  • What will happen if the plant was in poison food colouring.

My Science Project

This my project for my classroom.   I am investigating what will happen to these white flowers when the stem is split and put into water with food colouring in it.  I hypothesise that the flowers will soak up the water and maybe they will change the stem a different colour.

T2 Academy Awards

Thursday the 25th of June was a very special day for Tamaki Primary.
We were having Academy Awards for the whole school. We all dressed up as movie stars and looked awesome. Everyone in the school looked like real stars. We all lined up on the dots outside the office and waited for Mrs Hansell. When she came out she was with Willy, Willy looked like Michael Jackson with his white suit and his hat and Mrs Hansell looked like, well...I don’t know, beautiful I guess.

Mrs Hansell said a few words about how we looked and what we were going to do soon and some other stuff but I couldn’t wait to walk on the red carpet. The first class that went first was room 6 then room 5 and so on. Once I touched the carpet with my foot it felt smooth and silky.  My, it was red as an apple. It was cool! While I was walking, I was doing my signature moves. You know, doing my looks and smiling at all the cameras showing my white teeth like “chick ching” with my friend Misimoa.

When we got inside we all sat down on the blue chairs and the little kids sat on the floor. The movie started with a big title saying Movie Magic with stars around it. Everyone looked excited with a big smile on their faces they looked surprised. The movie started with Darwin and Chasity’s movie and some other people, and it was awesome. The whole film was like 1hour and 30 minutes.  I nearly fell asleep but I said to myself “I’ve got to stay awake.” I was slapping my face while I was saying it.  When it finished I looked around me and everyone looked exhausted.

Mrs Hansell walked to the stage and said “What a great film wasn’t it?”  After that we did the awards for best editor, best actor and best expression. At the end my friend Misimoa won an award for best actor and I was happy for him. I was shouting out “Whooo! Go MIsimoa!” They all
took a picture with a big smile and said “Cheese!” When it was all done, we were all celebrating
jumping up and down in the air. It was a fun day and cool!

My Reading GoalsT3W1

My Reading Goals for Term 3 are:
  • Make use of prior knowledge by using the things I already know, making connections and asking myself “What do I already know about this topic?”

  • Explore the author’s purpose and question intent by asking “Why did the author write this book?”
